Gui He Tang is committed to fully inform and involve clients in their journey towards good health. Here we provide an introduction to clients to the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
CONSULTATION
Your individual chinese herbal medicine consultation will involve an assessment of patient symptoms, medical history and body condition to derive a personal treatment plan. Specific diet and lifestyle recommendations may also be prescribed.
Chinese medicine focuses on treating the entire body to promote health. The emotional and spiritual health of a patient, in addition to total wellness, are considered when treating and diagnosing conditions and problems. We take a holistic approach to disease and focus as much on the prevention of illness as on the treatment of it.
Our clinical strategies don’t treat symptoms in isolation, but seek to diagnose the underlying patterns of imbalance that are causing them. Often, a combination of natural therapies are used, including moxibustion, Chinese herbal medicine, meridian massage, and cupping. We aim to relieve your symptoms while supporting your body to restore and strengthen its own natural healing ability.
During your course of treatment, our practitioners will also give you individual lifestyle and dietary advice relevant to your condition, drawing from over two thousand years of Chinese health preservation knowledge and experience
CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
PERSONALIZED MEDICINE
Chinese herbal medicines and formulas, like western pharmaceutical drugs, contain various active ingredients which are intended for the treatment of health conditions.
Since each formula is composed of multiple herbal ingredients, they can be modified for each person to resolve specific symptoms as a form of highly personalised medicine. These herbs often have few or no side effects in contrast to commercial drugs.
Our practitioners will provide medication as appropriate to your condition only after they have conducted a traditional Chinese herbal medicine consultation.
From ancient times, herbal ‘soups’ have been prepared, strained and allowed to cool to a warm liquid. It is then drunk by patients. Herbal pills can also be prescribed, a more convenient option for the patient. A patient is prescribed a certain number/volume/weight of herb balls each day to gain the same effect as cooking herbs.
The comfort and needs of the patient is taken into account when prescribing both the formulation and form of herbal medication.
During your course of treatment, our practitioners will also give you individual lifestyle and dietary advice relevant to your condition. Furthermore, they will advise you when it is appropriate to change or discontinue your Chinese herbal medication as part of your follow-up consultations.
Gui He Tang does not use any animal products in the herbal medicines that we dispense to our clients. In Australia, it is prohibited to import or sell illegally traded animal products, and our clinic is firmly against such activities.

Prior to your appointment time, please avoid excessive tea, coffee, alcohol; strenuous exercise and emotional upsets and do not brush or clear your tongue coating.
The above can disturb your circulation and symptoms, tire or over-stimulate your body or change the natural appearance of your tongue.
